Bloomsbury Inn Policies

Inspected and Recommended by Select Registry and the South Carolina B&B Association.

Check-In: Standard check-in is between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Please inquire at booking if you require a late check-in. Early arrivals may leave luggage and return after 3:30 pm if desired.

Check-Out: Standard check-out is between 8:30 am and 11:00 am.

Reservation Deposits: All reservations require a deposit of one night or one-third of the booking whichever is greater. Reservations are based upon one or two persons per room.

Cancellation: We certainly understand that changes in plans do occur in our mobile society. As a small inn, we trust that you understand our need for ample notice of cancellation. A credit card number or one night deposit is required to secure a reservation. If you must cancel, kindly do so promptly. If a cancellation is not received 7 days in advance (holidays, special events, or rental of three rooms require a 14 day cancellation), you will be charged for the entire reservation and receive a gift certificate for those rooms/nights booked to be used at a later date. The gift certificate will be good for one rebooking for those specific rooms within a period of six months after the cancellation. Re-bookings are subject to availability. As a small luxury property, we do not hold rooms. A full-house booking is paid in full at the time of booking; any refund for a full-house booking will be in the form of a gift certificate. Reservations not cancelled or cancelled after scheduled check-in will be considered “No Shows.” There is no gift certificate/refund provided for early departures or “No Shows.”

The rates for Bloomsbury Bed Chambers vary per room, per season: $149 to $215.

Payment Methods: Visa®, MasterCard®, cash are accepted, Reservations are not confirmed until the deposit is verified.

Minimum Stays: South Carolina, Camden, Bloomsbury offer great attractions. During peak periods, minimum stays may be implemented.

Breakfast Service: Breakfast seatings are between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. Inquire if you need an alternate schedule.

Children: Although you may encounter well-behaved, civility-oriented nieces/nephews/grandchildren at the Inn upon occasion, we do not accept children under the age of 12.

Smoking: We are a non-smoking Inn. Our lower level porch and a specific garden area are available for our guests to smoke. A $250.00 cleaning fee will be executed for smoking anywhere inside Bloomsbury. In addition, a $250.00 liability fee will be assessed for initiating a flame inside Bloomsbury.

Libations: Each guest room hosts a decanter of sherry or port. Wine and beer, limited menu, is available. Glassware and ice are always available.

Pets: Although we are pet friendly, we do not accept pets. There are plenty of birds, squirrels, bunnies, camellias and butterflies to entertain your "pet" craving. On a very cold morning in December 2010, a beautiful orange and white cat adopted our front verandah as her new home. Miss Kitty Stray is sure to be awaiting your arrival.

Gift Certificates: Bloomsbury Gift Certificates may be acquired by contacting Bloomsbury Inn bloomsburyinn@aol.com. We offer Bloomsbury gift certificates in $25.00 increments, sold and utilized at face value. The gift certificates can be utilized toward any reservation

1. We offer a Bloomsbury reservation gift certificate which is for a one night reservation, all Bloomsbury amenities included, with any subsequent night reservation at a 10% discount. This certificate is for a specific room which you select. The recipient receives a personalized letter recognizing your purchase.
2. We honor the South Carolina Bed and Breakfast Association gift certificates. These may be acquired by contacting the association www.southcarolinabedandbreakfast.com
3. We honor Bed and Breakfast.com gift certificates. These may be acquired by visiting www.bedandbreakfast.com
4. We also participate in the North Carolina and South Carolina Passport to the Porches of the South. Section 45-4-20:  (A) "Bed and breakfast" means a residential-type facility having no more than ten guestrooms where transient guests are fed and lodged for pay...(A)(1) "bed and breakfast inn", residential-type lodging facilities that have three to ten guestrooms and serve breakfast to registered guests...(B)(1) serves as both the innkeeper's residence and a place of lodging; (D) proprietor of the bed and breakfast.

Section 45-4-60: Fire safety provisions.  (A)(1) A bed and breakfast must provide a safe and secure environment.  (B)(2) A new bed and breakfast must adopt a controlled cooking plan.

Section 45-4-90:  The exemption from the tax provided in Section 12-36-290 shall apply to any bed and breakfast that has no more than five rentable guestrooms on the same premises and that is also the innkeeper's place of abode.
