Best Gun Collection in Nation at Camden Archieves

Ross Beard Gun Collection

The Ross E. Beard, Jr. Collection  is now on display at the Camden Archives & Museum.  The rifles, muskets, and pistols that make up this collection reflect the history and lore of our nation.  They bring back images of old black and white television shows.  They trigger memories of the horrors of war and sacrifices made  for our freedom.  They remind us of times with our parents or friends, in the early morning, as the sun rose and we hunted for our supper.  The Collection includes examples from five centuries of firearms history. Wheel-locks, flintlocks, cap and ball, and modern semi-automatic claim the visitor’s attention. The collection also features pieces from Mr. Beard’s collection of Melvin Purvis and John Dillinger memorabilia and his collection of “Carbine” Williams 1941-43 M1 carbines. The Camden Archives & Museum is located at 1314 Broad Street in Camden and are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is FREE!   www.camdenarchives.com
